Walter G. Kaehler started this World Traveler as a locksmith along the North Shore of Chicago. One common repair call was for the steamer trunks his customers used for transatlantic crossings. By 1920, after fielding many inquiries as to where to replace their worn out trunks, Walter opened the doors of the first Kaehler Lock and Trunk store.
